Lockdown Support Fund – Re-Launch
The Essex Association of Local Councils (EALC), in collaboration with Essex County Council, has re-launched the Lockdown Support Fund.
Essex County Council are committed to continue supporting the communities most in need which have been adversely impacted by the Covid-19 crisis. It follows on from our summer, half-term and Christmas funds and will extend our 2021 Lockdown Support fund to allow foodbanks, food pantries, community organisations, schools and voluntary groups to provide food support throughout the current lockdown.
This funding is for the provision of food for families with children and individuals from across Essex County Council local authority areas who are most in need and have adversely impacted by Covid-19.
Applications will be accepted for up to £3,000. Please ensure that the amount you request in your application reflects the local need, the number of hampers that you will be supplying and the families with children you will be supporting. You will need to tell us how many hampers / packages you expect to be able to provide with this funding. We do not expect to allocate more than £15 per hamper, apart from in exceptional circumstances. This funding will run from Tuesday 9th March 2021 and all funding must be spent by Friday 16th April 2021. We understand that you may need to provide support to a family on more than one occasion during this period but please make this clear in your application. We request that at least 80% of your grant be spent on families with children.

Contain Outbreak Management Fund
Further funding that is available from EALC, in collaboration with Essex County Council, is a new grant called the “Contain Outbreak Management Fund.”
This special funding pool totals over £500,000 and individual grants of up to £5000 will be awarded per project. The Contain Outbreak Management Fund (COMF for short) is designed to support the costs associated with ongoing public health and the outbreak management costs of tackling Covid-19. The pandemic has continued to provide challenges to Essex communities and their statutory services. The emergence of new Covid-19 variants in late 2020, which transmit up to 70% faster than the original strain, means that in recent months Essex communities have seen some of the highest levels of infection in the country. This has led to increased demand on voluntary and community sector services and on health services. Throughout the pandemic local communities have stepped up to provide support which has ensured communities have stayed connected, been able to self-isolate as required and provided first line self-organised community support to those in need. Funding is therefore allocated from the COMF to provide the VCS with financial aid to respond to, and further contain, the spread of Covid-19.
The COMF opens on Monday 8th March and funds will continue to be allocated until Wednesday 30th June. To make an application, please complete and return the attached application form via email, sending it to email@example.com. If you have any questions then feel free to give her a ring on 07495 915 912.
