A fundraising Civic Dinner, hosted by the Chairman of Rochford District Council, raised more than £5,000 for the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Appeal.
Every year, the proceeds of the Rochford Civic Dinner go to the Chairman’s chosen charity. However, in light of the current humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, and with the blessing and full support of East Essex Hackspace, the Chairman’s charity, all the money raised at this year’s dinner held on 11 March at The Lawn, Rochford by way of a raffle, auction and generous donations will be donated to the Ukraine Appeal.
The Chairman of Rochford District Council, Cllr Mrs Julie Gooding said: “This year’s Rochford District Council Civic Dinner raised an amazing total of £ £5,220.00 thanks to the generosity of all those who attended and also thanks to donations from local businesses and community groups within the Rochford District Council”.
The Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Appeal comprises 15 leading charities, all working together to provide much needed emergency aid in Ukraine. Our government has pledged to match fund all public contributions to the Appeal up to a total of £20milion. In addition, UK taxpayers can also giftaid their donations, at no extra cost.
Rochford District Council is flying the Ukrainian flag at its offices in a public demonstration of its unity and support of the Ukraine.
