Norovirus prevention information image
Norovirus activity has remained high in recent weeks
, but decreased during weeks 43 and 44. This drop in reporting (when compared with previous weeks) coincides with the October half-term school holidays in England. Total norovirus laboratory reports between weeks 43 to 44 of 2024 were still almost double the 5-season average for the same 2-week period.

This year cases have risen earlier than usual and are expected to continue to increase. You can read more about why norovirus reporting is so high at the moment in this blog.

We are reminding the public there are some simple steps you can take to avoid spreading the infection:

  • Stay home for 48 hours after symptoms clear
  • Wash hands with soap & warm water
  • Don’t prepare food for others
