New survey launched to investigate women’s safety in the Rochford District

Rochford District Council has launched a survey to gain a deeper understanding of how safe women feel across the district, and to identify ways to enhance safety for women and girls in Rochford.

The survey which can accessed at www.rochford.gov.uk/SafetyInRochford – invites women who live and work in the area to share their personal experiences, concerns and ideas on how to make Rochford a safer place for everyone.

In partnership with the Women’s Safety Charter, this survey is a collaborative initiative focused on addressing specific male behaviours that contribute to women feeling unsafe. The project emphasises the urgent need for education on women’s safety and expanding safe spaces that foster a respectful environment for women throughout the district.

This survey offers a platform for women to voice their experiences, with the results helping guide Rochford’s local authorities and partnering agencies in shaping strategies to improve safety and overall community wellbeing.

Councillor Lisa Newport, Chair of the Communities, Wellbeing and Housing Committee at Rochford District Council, said: “This survey is for women to openly share their experiences and ideas to help us work towards an environment where every woman can feel safe and respected. I encourage all women living and working in the Rochford district to participate in this survey and directly contribute to meaningful change.”

The survey is accessible to all residents aged 18 and over. Women who wish to share their experiences can access the survey at www.rochford.gov.uk/SafetyInRochford

The survey closes on Tuesday 10 June.
