Mental Health Support Hub – Mid and South Essex
July 2, 2025A scheme delivered by HEAT Essex (changed from Better Housing Better Health) in partnership with Essex County Council and supported locally by Rochford District Council and Brentwood Borough Council (One Team). It provides fully funded energy efficiency improvements to eligible residents through ECO4, GBIS, and the upcoming Warm Homes Local Grant (WHLG).
It’s open to:
- Tenants and owner-occupiers on low incomes or who meet the health eligibility route
- Private landlords with tenants who meet the same criteria
This scheme is already helping many households across our districts, but to truly reach those most at risk, we need greater awareness across health and wellbeing referral routes.
Why it’s important to share this now:
- Cold, damp homes significantly impact health and increase winter pressures on the NHS
- Social prescribers and GPs are well-placed to identify eligible patients
- Promoting this safe, council-backed scheme helps protect residents from scammers and rogue traders
- Early support prevents crisis situations and hospital admissions
