This summer, Essex Police are giving you the opportunity to ask officers what you’ve always wanted to know about policing.

Have you thought about becoming a police officer, but don’t know if you’d #FitTheBill? Now is your time to ask away.
Whether you’re worried about childcare and shift patterns, you’re from a diverse background and feel like there are barriers in your way, or you want to find out what your loved one would be signing up for if they joined Essex Police, you can submit your questions through our website.
The closing date is midnight on Tuesday 25 May 2021. We will then collect the responses and find officers to answer your questions in the weeks after the closing date.

If your questions are picked, it may be that we’ll film you asking them. This will either be virtual, or on location, so either way, you can ask the officer face-to-face.
Depending on the number of questions we receive, we may be unable to answer them all, but we hope to make this a regular feature throughout the year.
This means that members of the public can continue to engage with officers that they may not hear from on a regular basis, whether they’re based in specialist units, or they’re officers who don’t police in your local area.
